U. S. Steel's New Family of DUAL-TEN® Steels Will Help Make Automobiles Lighter, Safer and More Fuel Efficient January 25, 2002
United States Steel LLC (NYSE: X) has become the first American steel maker to develop and produce commercially a family of dual phase steels. Marketed under the trademark DUAL-TEN®, the new steels have been engineered to meet the demands of automakers for high- strength, light-weighting materials with improved formability that will help them reduce vehicle weight and cost while improving crash safety performance. U. S. Steel's DUAL-TEN® 590 steel is currently in use by major automobile manufacturers in large production volume automobiles, and other grades are being qualified and implemented in the design of future vehicles. U. S. Steel Plants Obtain ISO 14001 Certification January 25, 2002
To ensure U. S. Steel's commitment to environmentally responsible operating practices, U. S. Steel has sought and obtained ISO 14001 certifications for three of its manufacturing plants.  The ISO 14001 certification program was developed to assist companies in developing an Environmental Management System to assess and control the impact of their activities to the environment.

United States Steel Corporation Begins New Year As Independent Company With a Century of Experience January 8, 2002
United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X), the country's largest integrated steel maker, today began trading on the New York Stock Exchange as an independent company following its spin-off from USX Corporation at the end of 2001. While the company is a new legal entity, it has more than a century of experience in the steel industry. (Full Story)
